Nine members of the Valley Model United Nations team travelled to the Hopkins School in New Haven on Saturday, December 3rd for another competition. Model United Nations is an educational simulation and academic competition in which students learn about international relations, diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making in the United Nations. Committees at Hopkins included The Supreme Court 2016, the Cabinet of the 45th United States President, House of Un-American Activities (1950), and a Joint Session Black Live Matter and the New York Police Department. Students spent the morning and afternoon discussing issues in each committee and writing and passing directives and resolutions. Valley students were assigned to represent specific persons in each committee including Sandra Day O'Connor, William Rehnquist, John Paul Stevens, Rick Scott, John Stevens Wood, J. Edgar Hoover, Darnell Moore, Kei Williams, and Olaronke Akinmowo.
At the end of the conference, awards were given to "Outstanding Delegates" in each committee. Maeve Collins won for representing William Rehnquist and Max Klin won for representing Darnell Moore.
